Congratulations on the Cobb
Would you give it a little zap, or use another method?

A beautiful find no need to "clean". But you are going to need the entire treasure box if you are looking at the newest For Sale home ... Obama's vacation home. Please don't send any of the sand my way, 9 hours in the water and less than $1.00 in coins and a half dozen sinkers. Keep swinging, stay healthy and enjoy!

Thanks yes a real cool little find! at first I thought it was junk but the patina color had me take a closer look! Half of me wants to clean it with electrolysis( curiosity, sometimes killed the cat and I wouldn’t want to ruin it anymore) but in reality, it’s really not worth what it’s worth to me for finding it! The other wants to keep it with the black patina maybe make a pinky ring out of this little half real.
Found at the foot of an eroded dune now this area has 5 to 6 feet of sand back, naturally, the ocean, replenishes and depletes every summer and winter.

However, me pirate ship has sanded in and I shall be hunting the striper now🏴‍☠️!🐟

I am so jealous! Spanish Silver is my White Whale. Congrats, awesome find! :notworthy:

Finishing up the winter surge with a huge little hit up in the dry dunes that took a beating this winter now that the lower beach is sanded back in the only competition now are the schoolies of stripers coming in!!
It looks legit to me. Nice find!

Well, Casper, thank you for the knowledge and experience. Truly, I thought hammered and cobs were one of the same, silly me. Will need to research the history.👍🏻
I will check my collection. I do believe this will be my third cob and I think I have at least one hammered all from the beach. Will post when I find them just have been super busy this last week visiting my mom for Mother’s Day and headed to Harvard University for my son swim meet exciting🤩!
Thanks for the great comments & GL/HH!🏴‍☠️

Wow! It's very similar or the same to the one I posted some weeks ago! Congrats man, I know the feeling of finding this on the beach and it's amazing!:goldtrophy: :goldtrophy: If it's the same and my info it's not wrong, this is half Real ("50 cents") from the end of XVI century. It should weigh around 1,5g. I'm not sure about this but in the back seems to be letter P like mine, that seems it means the silver comes from Potosí, one of the bigest silver mine from the time (nowadays Bolivia). maybe somebody could confirm this.

Congratulations! Felicidades!
