actually I have checked over the coin a good amount of times and I could not find the word "copy" anywhere on the coin. that was actually the first thing I checked for.

Honestly that would be very helpful to hear what they have to say alongside what has already been stated.

Looks like a copy of the NOE 1. Hard to tell from the pics but for one the color looks very strange. It may just be the pic. You will hear from a couple of the coin experts on here and get your answers. Here is one that I dug. Is the color of yours kind of goldish or is it more like this?

Can you tell us how you came by this coin? Just curious if it was dug or passed down or what not?

Any valuable/rare coins are often copied and sold as souvenirs or reproduced to sell and fool the public. I believe yours might not be real. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is. If it was once sold as a souvenir it would have COPY stamped into it. The best way to find out if it is a fake is check the material that it should be and also the weight. It just looks too perfect to me. I'm not an expert, but I'm learning to be one. How did you obtain this mystery coin?

Well besides the odd color there's a couple other things that look off. The only variety that it seems to match is the Large Planchet NOE 1. The second S doesn't look right and there shod only be 2 pellets between IN and MASATHVSETS
Hopefully Don or IP will chime in. They've been at this a lot longer than me. Odd that it doesn't have the copy designation

Ok I retract my statement about the pellets. That's just wear on the example in my book. It is hard to imagine making a copy with that crack.

Is it just the photograph or has it been plated ? In particular the back ground areas on the date side of the piece appear way lighter
than the raised devises - obviously you'll want some experts to have a look -( weigh it and size it for us !!!)

Yeah it's got a very odd look to it. Not sure if it's just the lighting or what. But it looks strange

Numismatics4life ???
you still with us ?
with your "TN name" I cannot help the thought crossing my mind that you are a numismatic with an actual Pine that just wants to show it off and sit back and see how we act.
The size and weight can help verify...
and I hope you are legit with this.
