Pic or no pic, what a wonderful find. Makes you wish you knew the story of how it got there.

What is it's denomination? A 1-Liard would weigh about 4.47 grams and have a 21.5 mm diameter; but I believe this variety of the 1L with a 'D' (Lyon mint mark) was only minted in Lyon in the years 1693 and 1699.
Don....

I'm unsure of it's denomination. On the the obverse is king Louis facing right and on the reverse is the liard de france d and under that is three fleur de lis. I imagine this thing isn't worthless but I have no idea of it's actual value could anybody give me a ballpark figure of what it could be worth?

Krause lists 1693,1694,1695,1696, 1697 & 1699.

To the original poster... I don't think there's any dug Liard that would have much value.

the 1Liard was also minted in 1698 at Lix-en-Provence , Paris, Dijon, Nantes, Troyes and Besancon, but not with the 'D' mint mark as far as I know.

1698 was not a date I posted.

From this site 1 Liard - Louis XIV (aged torso) - France - Kingdom - Numista I see only the Lyon mint mark for the years I mentioned: 1693 and 1699. Yes, the 1 Liard was minted in the dates you showed and the additional date I added (1698), but the source I was using doesn't show the "D" mark in other than '93 and '99; just saying.......
Don....
