VT or CT copper... I would guess CT. Can you get one letter off the bust side?

IP:
These eyes see (or imagine) a "CO......." at the "12:30" position at the top of his head.
Don.........

The "I" at 10 O'clock is clearer. :) So should be able to confirm a CT.

WOW THANK YOU .... yes I can make out a C on the top right of his head ... I looked all over the net with no luck ... thank you very much ...:notworthy:

it looks like a "Draped" front obverse not a "mailed " one . that reverse shouldn't be too hard to id with the double cinquefoils before the word "INDE"
but i don't see it in my references.

See if your think it is a 1787 M39-2-ee Definite eye strain coin for attributing :)

1787 Connecticut Copper - Miller 39.2-ee

Don

Definitely close, now would just need someone like David P. who could probably easily say if all others can be eliminated. Shame it's not better being very rare.

Lucky it's the only use for the reverse die.

What sold me was the fat 1, position of the 7, the arm position in relation to letters D & E, proper spacing/distance on the fleurons? sp? and where the center point pointed towards letter I.. Yes, good that the reverse is only used with the M39.2 Obverse die, since the Bust side does not show much of anything for IDing.

I do think you are right on this, but at the same time have seen CTs that are extremely close.... one time making me think I had a $12,000 coin until I realized one stop was about 1mm towards one letter when it should have been towards the other. They were each connected by the same obverse, which really had me going because everything was looking perfect.... but it ended up being a $200-$250 coin and not in the range of 12k. I had about 8 grand spent in my mind before I found the difference in the two. :laughing7:

We all know how good I am at IDing coins, so all I'm gonna say is: CONGRATULATIONS ON TWO AMAZING FINDS!!!

Nice score, congrats
