1723 HIBERNIA FARTHING

The 1723 HIBERNIA FARTHING has green edge rot. The rest of the coin is in great shape. What is the best way to remove the bumpy green edge rot from this Farthing without destroying the patina on the rest of the coin? Arty

I would leave it as is, just because I have never had a dug copper coin get worse. But if you think it might, you can try grinding it down with a nail file, then coat it with some Renaissance wax.

Thanks IP. Very odd that the gritty green corrosion only attacked the whole circumference of the coin. I haven't much experience with this type of corrosion and its one of my favorite coins because of the story behind it. It definitely has to be addressed. Arty
