I got out yesterday on one of my permissions. It was a nice day out with my Army buddy and my brother.

I found the King George copper about 4" down with the deus. I thought it was aluminum because it was such a high sound tone. But I dig everything anyway...This is my first KG1. I've found 5 1/2 KG2'S. But this one is by far the nicest copper I have found! I'm not sure of the difference between the 1/2 penny and the regular penny so if anyone can help I'd sure appreciate it.

Nice coppers ! :occasion14:

Awesome find, especially for being so shallow. Must have been such a nice signal on the deus.

It's taken me about 15 months with the deus and now everytime out I have so much confidence in the machine. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

My modern pennies don't come out of the ground in that good shape. Beautiful KG1

I found about 10 clad coins and they were in rougher shape. I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a more modern English coin at first. Then I turned it over and I could actually read the date. Last week I found an 1698 French Liard about 200' from the KG1...

Beautiful coin! Congratualtions! :occasion14:

That's a great coin. And the patina and condition is really nice. Enjoy it and be careful with the cleaning.

I don't know what I should do to clean it. Any suggestions? I was just going to leave it as is so I don't ruin it..

Congrats on your 1st copper and a great one at that. I would not recommend cleaning that one. You can can see the edges starting to flake off and chances are anything you do to try and improve it will actually make it worse. You can dry brush it with a stiff toothbrush then lightly buff it with a dry rag. Or just leave it and enjoy.

Very nice coppers- Congrats!

Very nice coin and in great shape to boot

Does anyone know the difference between the 1/2 penny and regular penny. I can't find anything online...

You've been killing it lately, eagle! Beautiful find in that condition. I'd leave it be in terms of cleaning.

Farthings and half pences of that period were copper, pennies up were silver. I like this site:

Thanks for the info! It's been alot of hard work/research and luck lately. I should be posting more often but I'm so busy I don't have time.

Your coin is a KG 1st Farthing......not a half penny. Farthing is like a quarter cent. Great detail on that one. Congrats

Wow that is in killer shape! Congrats

I know what you mean, if it were the Deus, I've had loads of copper & bronze coins that I thought were going to be silver! (High tone)
