1723 King George, octagonal and silver buttons, plus a beautiful trade weight!

My oldest coin so far as it beat the 1733 I found last week. The itty, bitty octagonal buttons are a first for me. Any clue what the spoon thingy is? It seems to be pewter. The trade weight was identified by the helpful folks in the What Is It? forum, I just can't figure out its date or if there is a little letter under the crown.

Outstanding finds...a trade weight has been on my wish list for a long time!
 

Usually the weights with a crown will have a monogram like "GR" underneath it as shown below. Can't seem to make out the details of yours from the pic. Can you take a better close-up?

Here's a better pic and I think I can make out a 'G' under the crown?

Nice looking KG I and the weight is "weigh cool" lol. The octagonal buttons are cufflinks.

That does look like a "G", but I've never seen a single letter like that before. But that's an unusual looking weight with its crude, out-of-place markings so it shouldn't be surprising.
