I'm just starting to explore a colonial site here in western VA. Limited time so far, but I've recovered an 1820 LC, a 19th century thimble, etc. Recently, a friend and I did some sifting and recovered some pottery shards and a rose head nail. Nothing real exciting yet, but I believe the site has some potential. Anyway, I was curious if anyone might recognize the pattern on these shards or might be able to date them. Thanks in advance!

That blue and one small green piece of feather-edged pearlware generally dates to the 1800-1840 period. The other sherds are likely from the same period. Hope you find the 18th century site you're looking for.

Anytime I walk into a site and I see green feather edge, blue feather edge or even salt glaze I know the chances of finding relics just went up.
