I went out in the heat wave here in New Jersey to do a little detecting/sifting. I found this 17mm cooper button about two feet down. Also found were early two Georges, silver shoe buckle fragment, cufflinks and a few other trinkets. According to Tim Burts book it's a 1757 Flag Officers button. The site has given me many early Georges and Farthings, two early style 26th regiment British pewter buttons and many cuff links, some of them are Tudor Roses. Please feel free to chime in if you know about this button and or the sleeve buttons.

Well done! Those are excellent finds. Did you sift the navy button?

I started doing something that I call skimming. It's a combination of sifting and detecting. In medium to low iron areas. It works really well if you have a strong back

I do the same thing down here in Florida...we have sandy soil and there are lots of non-metallic artifacts in the soil. Those are some nice finds you got.

Maybe Iron Patch will chime in, but I believe that's what you got. Love those cufflinks. That's a great site you're on.
