Found what I hope is dated 1794 Lead Seal on a new colonial field permission. Got it in the same area as some early buckle fragments, tombacs and other early buttons. Have not found much later stuff in this field so I really hope its 18th century. Any help appreciated as Ive never found anything like this nor do I recall seeing early dated seals posted ever.

That’s a great seal

That’s a beautiful old seal find. Congrats

I've found about 50 or so bag seals, never any with a date on them, most have nothing on them, some have letters. I like that's pretty darn cool.

Excellent relic find. Having that date on it, makes it extra nice.

I'm well aware of Ged Dodd's efforts to find and catalog various Russian lead seals and have watched all his videos so like you I had an idea straight away of what it was. :icon_thumright:

Yet another piece of early history that I knew nothing about until unearthing a piece of it. One of the main reasons I love this hobby. I would guess these would turn up quite frequently at mill sites especially in England but are a exceedingly rare find over here. The story this seal could tell
