Hit an old dot in the park woods that was originally owned by one of Gen. Forbes officers in the French and Indian war. This spot is now a busy picnic pavilion. Basically you never know what will pop out of the ground. Lots of trash mixed with iron smelting slag and generations of drops plus its under a major high voltage electrical tower. I’ve been here multiple times and always find a handful of goodies. First time, however, that I have found a coin that could have been dropped by the original owner that passed in 1802. Thx for looking.

Very Nice!!!! Congrats!!!

Nice Haul Thad
1796 beats my oldest Large Cent by a year.
Haha I don't know what I was thinking. I have 1794, 1795, 1797, and 1798 Large Cents, but no 1796.

I’d love to find a largie by me. Lots of history but lots of modern junk also. Your post shows that persistence pays off.

Love the patented piece with the crown...great assortment of bits and bobs there!

A lot of history happened between those 2 coins getting lost. Those DBs that sneak into the 1700s are my favorites to find. Nice!

1796 is a great year1 CONGRATS

Nice old American copper!! I think oldest identifiable draped bust is 1798 which is a pretty common date and as dumb as it sounds, I like that Ike token. Great job!!!!!!!
