I've been searching for a colonial site for the last two afternoons after work. The site is not in regards to anything on a map, but just the suitability of the land and it's location. It's quite vast, but I've narrowed a 100 acre area down to a few acres that may hold the site. Today I had a perfect signal and swore it off as too good. Then out popped a liberty cap...

Also found were some Indians including a fattie and an 1875. The usual flat button assortment including a holed one, a sickle piece, and a few round balls.

The Liberty Cap wanted to flake immediately and started to self destruct. However I did some damage control and coated it with an Elmer's mixture to stabilize it. Thanks to Crusader for the tip on one of his posts. She looks alright, all considering.

Enjoy and good hunts. Hopefully I'll locate a site soon.

Another nice one Scrappy. :occasion14: I'm still looking for my first liberty cap. They continue to elude me. :BangHead:

You'll find one considering all the excellent finds you make. I had a three year gap since finding my last (to the month). Good luck [emoji256]

You are the man scrappy, congrats on digging yet another 18th century LC. Watch out for the tics, I hope you are taking precautions.

Thx Loco. That Lymes disease knocked me out last summer. Thanks for the reminder bud. I've been using permethrin and the usual DEET. They're saying
tics are going to be awful this summer - I'm sure it's the same for Ohio.

That's a good old copper-
Congrats

Missed this one...great find and heroic save. Those last pics show some incredible preserved detail!

Those 18th century US coppers are so hard to get! Smart move on the glue to prevent delamination. So when is the Chain Cent coming?

Much appreciated. It was heroic now that you mention it. I saved lady liberty from being roached;) cheers

Crusader actually mentioned glue in one of his type ups, so I tried it based on solid advice. I'll definitely do it again. Now a Chain Cent is something I've never considered. Thanks for putting that notion into the universe.

Thanks for looking
