This is probaby the best condition token I have found to date. It was issued by Henry Carier mercer, in Blyth Nottinghamshire England around 1667.

That is amazing condition for those. If you dig enough one in great shape usually does roll around.

Neat find, what was the token for?

Chris
Hello Chris, they were given as change to customers. At that time in England there was no official regal copper coinage. The coinage was mostly silver the smallest being the penny. In 1672 a copper halfpenny was issued, this and legislation brought an end to the practice of traders issuing there own tokens. 17th century traders tokens have now become very collectable. and are one of my favourite type of finds.

Regards - Robert
