1800's Barber, Advertisement FOB, Jewelry, More Silver from "The Site"!
Hello Everyone.
I went detecting a few times this week; twice at the site that has now produced 87 (52 are Mercs to 21 Rosies) silver coins for me in 16 hunts there, and one short hunt at my favorite park of all time, the "silver park". I haven't been to the silver park in a while, and had a few hours on Wednesday to see if it would produce any more old coinage. I was pleasantly surprised to find a '44 Washington, a Rosie, and a few wheats. A wheatie was sitting right on top of the Washington, and ruined the face of the coin. I was happy to get a couple of silver coins from my favorite park. The other site in two hunts this week produced 9 silver and around 36 wheaties(dates ranging from 1910-1958), including an 1898 Barber Dime(my 9th barber from the site), 5 Mercury Dimes, a Rosie, a silver/turquoise earring, a small sterling ring, and an interesting ring that got chewed up by a lawnmower. This ring is fairly heavy for its size, and had a tone just a little higher than a pull tab, so I'm not really sure it is silver. I also found a cool good luck token/advertising FOB, which says "ALLE NITE TIP", "Strong As A Horse", "Shoes Keep Good Feet Healthy", "Kali-sten-iks". It's identical on both sides. Yesterday, my last find was the small great seal button with the backmark of "Horstmann Philadelphia". Another fun week of turf hunting!!
Thanks for looking!
