1800's farm site produces a few keepers and an Old Privy find

Good evening everyone,

Another warm day in Central Ohio but that did not stop me from gaining permission to hunt a 1876 area where a home used to be. Using my old maps from 1876, I was able to find where a brick home used to stand. The debris field is visible everywhere. Glass, brick and pottery shards. It was tough hunting with the wind blowing and the corn stubble still standing. I didn't hunt it too long as I had another place I wanted to hunt. The field has not been prepped yet for planting. I'm sure there should be some pre-1900 coins lurking somewhere, but today I had to settle for a 1925 Wheat, 3 old shotgun shell bottoms, an old buckle of some kind, another kind of buckle (whatsit)?? Also found an old gas lantern top, and some king of hand gun casing. Looks like it is probably modern. While hunting I found a brick lined hole which I'm sure is an old privy. It is square, brick-linned and about 30x20. What do you think??

Chopped liver. I guess we only hear what we want to hear. I'd be probing beside that privy hole to try and find an Earlier privy.

Never thought of that ??? I forgot that they get re-dug over time and moved a little. My hunting partner would definetely not let that one slip by. Thanks for the tip though

Most likely a privy...they can go pretty deep. I've encountered a couple, one was about 7 1/2 foot deep the other was more than 10 foot deep. Both had brick walls. One was round and the other was square. Congrats and HH

Thanks. Daytondigger does a lot of privy digs and is going to help me (some day) when we can both be off at the same time
