Go for it! most old home sites will turn up a few oldies....maybe silver, but at least most turn up a large cent or two.

That's a fantastic idea. Let me know if you turn anything up. Did anything historical ever happen on the site? A lot of times you can turn up old prescription bottles under where the house used to be. People used to just throw those out in trash piles in their basements. They didn't used to throw out a lot of metal in the trash piles so if you find old newspapers that is where you want to be.
