1804 Half Cent & Copper Ornamental Thing

Hi All!
Got out with 'Worltalker' for a very wet hunt yesterday,
Scored this 1804 Half Cent just under the surface, got tossed into the junk pocket as a clad quarter,
glad I looked a little closer before I used it at the tollboth :D
I am in the market for a new camera,
one that takes good pix of bad coins :laughing7:
Of course it looks much better in hand than in photos :laughing9:
The copper ornament appears to be pretty old, heavy crude casting,
Anyone care to venture a date, or an idea of what this is ? :help:
Dug a rather strange button, appears to be lead with brass shank, extremely heavy
for it's size. (same size but a little more convex than a one piece eagle cuff button).
and of course, a spoon, bottom pic as original.
"1915 Panama Pacific Exposition" souvenir spoon Tower of Jewels on top; "Palace of Horticulture" in the bowl & on back is "Court of the Four Seasons" "Made by the Niagara Falls Co., 1877" on back; the spoon is silverplate.
Back out for another hunt today,
Best Digs to You All!

Hey Herbie! :hello: You made some really nice finds yesterday!
That half cent is in pretty decent shape considering it's 207 years old! :icon_thumright:

I really like the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition souvenir spoon, amazing details! :o

Have a good week,
Dave

Re: 1804 Half Cent & Copper Ornamental Thing

Nice finds. It would be hard to find a coin that old in my neck of the woods. Man you are the spoon man.

Re: 1804 Half Cent & Copper Ornamental Thing

Nice Half cent Herbie. That's one I haven't seen posted here lately. That "Poon" (Sammies version of spoon) :laughing7: is awesome...Great detail. I'll be in N. Va. on the 28th at a Civil War dig. That can't be too far from you. Maybe I'll sneak up for a day hunt. Take care Will

Mike

Re: 1804 Half Cent & Copper Ornamental Thing

Nice ones Herbie. When I first saw the copper relic in the third pic, I though it was a mini faucet knob-LOL. I am shocked you dug another spoon-LOL. Great hunting. HH, Quindy.

Re: 1804 Half Cent & Copper Ornamental Thing

Thanks all! took 19 months and 22 largies before I found a Half :icon_sunny:
Pete, thanks for that ID, the heavy casting just reminded me of some old buckles I'd found, oh well, everything can't be Colonial :laughing7:
Quindy, that was exactly what i thought before I picked it up,
faucet handle :laughing9:
Mike, you are always welcome! Best wishes on that Virginia hunt
Steve, I'm very happy to get my first half! great to hear from you :hello:
Dawg, I love diggin spoons, silver pewter copper Whatever,, as long as they're old!
Dave, that spoon was sooo deep in a spot I'd been over a dozen times, just a peep of a foil signal...
HMN, I'm now checking my coins more carefully, the HCs are an exact match in diameter to a modern quarter
Lost Crow, you will be surprised someday with a find older than your areas settling date :o
TommNJ, Thanks & Great digs to ya!!
I'm back out today looking for that NE Shilling :D
