I got back to the field again and was thrilled to find a few more good finds. The odd thing is that I did not dig one modern coin!

The first coin was the George I halfpenny which was dug near the goal, about 4 inches down. Then I dug a bunch of buttons including the vintage Honor Bright button, and the one on the left with the marked H. T [?] D * PLATED. I cant make out the missing letter, so any help on the backmark is appreciated!

Finally, the last coin of the day was the Draped Bust. I could make out some of the lettering so I knew it was a Large Cent of some type.

Well, at least I can ID these coppers, which is more than I can say for the ones from the weekend!

Way to go on the coppers!! :headbang: Nice little spot ya got there...

Congrats on some good fines, I wish I could fine a half penny in the fields I hunt, maybe a half clad penny would be possible :notworthy:

Talk about your not so typical soccer field finds! Congrats. Wish every field didn't have fill dirt in these history rich areas.

Nice finds, Neil! :icon_thumright:

Here are my coppers from the site so far: Two Large Cents, two KG II and one KG I.

looking at the coins it looks like they've used a chemical fertilizer on the fields

how long has it been a soccer field? It was obviously a farm field prior but I'm surprised it hasn't been hunted out. Great job on your research and great finds. It sucks that the coins aren't in better condition but great finds regardless :headbang:

You have done surprisingly well in that soccer field! I am surprised the local ballfield hunters haven't already cleaned it out.

:icon_thumleft:very cool finds

You would be surprised how I have done in other sports fields similar to this one in the past. I found a Draped Bust Half Cent in a sports field by my house last year, and even more recently this King Ferdinand VII Half Reale was found not more than 100 yards from kids playing soccer at another park.

Isn't it amazing the history to be found on a soccer field?!

I have been trying to figure out where the dirt came from. The finds are all relatively shallow. The Flowing Hair Cent was only around 3 inches deep.

This picture has me stomped.
