Dug only my second capped bust dime, this one is an 1820 Capped Bust Dime (cleaned only with distilled water). Also dug an early bone button and KGIII Hibernia.

That coin needs a 30 second dip in lemon juice then rinsed. Then it spends the next month on top of the wood fireplace this winter getting a nice even tone and dulling of the scratches.

have an expert look at the coin who is knowledgeable in Die Marriages .. Why you may ask .. I had a 1820 dime and placed it on E Bay. I figured I would get $200-$300 dollars for the coin and that was a fair price . The bidding went to $600 the first day and when it was all done I sold the coin for $3300.00. The guy who won sent me an E-Mail after the fact and after he paid me. The coin turned out to be a very rare die marriage. In the coin world it was a R-7 with only 12 or less known to exist. If i did not have 2 people who were collectors, I would have sold it for $200-$300. I got lucky that 2 people knew about the coin. FYI it was resold for $7200.00 .. Lesson Learned ........Have some one look at it. Take pictures and send it to the PCGS web site message board they will know for sure.

So I just got confirmation that the 1820 Capped Bust Dime is a variety JR-2 Rarity 3. Thanks for the idea.
