well my buddy and i got permission to hunt a old homested on private property the house is still standing with some out buildings. it sits way off the beaten path it looks great. we both have Garrett's mine a 1500 his a 550. grass is all cut down, any ideas how to attack this 1842 beauty? I would love to find a gold coin!

1. detect around house.....line of sight of door or window
2. lay out grid lines or rope and detect an area at a time. Box shaped grids from house out.
3. look for any trees or rock markings
4. look for any rocks out of place.
5. ck out out house too

I agree a grid is the most thorough way to make sure every inch is covered. You can also just rope off straight lines about 4 feet wide and 100 feet long and do it the same way. Just go super slow so you can find the deep stuff and dig everything and take the trash out with you, that will help with future hunts.
