I Went back to the old historic house that I hunted at last weekend for a couple hours this morning and out popped an 1852 large cent. The dfx showed a quarter at 5.5 inches and 86 vdi. Depth was right on and found it at a slant in the side of the plug. Also got an 1880 indian from another spot. Thats another first for me besides being my oldest coin found so far.

Nice Large cent.

Your right the dfx will hit them in that vdi range.

I have found them 10 to 12 inches deep with the dfx and dd coil. I also know the dfx really well for my hunting conditions.
