Does anyone know if it is silver? It looks it and rang up as silver on my E-Trac 1-48. I put a magnet to it and it didn't stick. Also, what does the word coin on it stand for? Does it mean 90% silver and 10% copper like coins? From what I can say, it is really old and very cool! Thanks for looking!

My guess is coin silver... Produced from the melt of coins... awesome find!!!

It looks like part of a double case watch, back cover for a keywind? The American Waltham Watch co trade mark or name was not used until about 1885. The serial number is probably for the case and not the watch. Coin silver was a silver alloy (called poor man's silver). Good find!! Tony
