Hit the permission site today where I had previously found two 1942 Mercs, a Buff nickel, some Tootsie toy cars and a 1942 New Zealand penny.

I immediately found another Tootsie toy car in the same area where the others were...

After finding just two new pennies and a clad quarter, I decided to try another spot I hadn't tried before. I got a good signal and thought I found a ring, but it looks like a sliding ring from an old flyrod reel seat...

I got a quarter reading and this thing comes out of the hole. Looks like it's an old tape measure...

Another reasonable signal and I pulled out this old bullet casing. The only mark on the casing is an "18" so not sure of the age...

Now for the best find of the day! I get a jumpy quarter signal and the E-TRAC shows it's at a depth of 10". I dug a huge plug and tipped the plug out and the pinpointer showed it was still deep in the hole. I carefully dug around the target and this beauty showed it's pretty face...

My first Seated! :hello2: Looks like it's from the Philadelphia mint!

That’s what I’m talking about! For a coin hunter in the States it’s tough to get better than that! It does happen but seeing a coin that old in that condition is not common. That should be fuel to keep going for awhile...:icon_thumright:

Holy cow! That is awesome! RJGMC

Oh Yeah! Thats what keeps us going Thats mighty purdy

awesome coin, great detail too! Sweet!

Thanks guys, it did give me a huge shot of energy. First I didn't believe what I had found but I didn't rub the dirt off so I didn't know what the date was. Washed it off carefully when I got home and then saw the date. I couldn't remember when the Carson City mint started operation but found out from my coin book they started minting quarters in 1870.

That is one fine looking Seated quarter.

That’s a heckuva seated quarter find! It’s likely that was dropped not long after it was minted cause it’s in really good condition. My first seated coin was a 1957 quarter but mine has a hole in it. Nice find.

That coin is awesome!

Amazing detail on that quarter. Excellent find. :icon_thumleft: Those Tootsie toy cars are a fun find as well.

Awesome looking quarter! Congrats

Awesome!!! Congrats!!! Amazing Detail!!!

That's an awesome seated, probably the nicest I've seen, congrats on all

That is awesome

That is a beautiful quarter. It should grade Extra Fine if not AU all day long. The fields are so clean with no corrosion.
I would never guess that it came out of the ground.......Fantastic Find!

Omg this thing is pristine! That’s your first Seated? Gonna be hard to ever top that!

Beautiful seated quarter recovery! :occasion14:

That’s a beauty!

Coins are so hard to find where I live if I found that I'd probably retire from detecting. That would be a hard one to top. Congrats! Pic of your coin going in my files. Gary
