1860's farm field

Got out today with my digging buddies Donny and George. Muddy mess but sure felt good to be out detecting in this nice weather. I got skunked on coins but George found five indian head pennies and a 1864 2 cent piece. Also a nice button that's not id'ed yet.I think the indians were all 1870's and 1880's. Donny got two indian head pennies a shield nickel and some kind of heart shaped pendant. Lots of pottery and crockery shards out there. They had recently went there before I met them and got four two centers and 14 indians. We have another farm to do tomorrow. Hopefully I can find some coinage. I'm borrowing a Shadow X2 to try tomorrow. They both have the X5. Nice machine. Anyway, here's my meager finds.

Very nice finds. I have a 50 acre farm that I have not yet tried my self, I do know that there was a Indain Reservation on this old farm land. How deep was the coins running in the open fields?

Mike,
Some nice finds you got there. I know what you mean about not finding coins. I took Ridley with me today to my farm spot, and he kicked my butt on coins. :( It's just not fair! ;D
You'll get em' next time. Thanks for the post.

Don't let Ridley use that DFX when he goes with you.

Ranged from one of them on the surface to 7" on the deepest. Good Luck.

Neat digs Mike! ;) Cool assortment of farm stuff...

Is there anything interesting about the square brass plate in your picture lower left?

It's blank unfortunately. After awhile not hearing a good signal it was better than some iron.

Those are nice. I bet your luck will change. Go get the biggun and let us drool all over them, lol!
