1860's Farmhouse closet door latch?

Does anyone have any information on this closet door latch?
It is in a farmhouse that dates back to the 1860's.
It has an interesting lift up locking lever.

Don't know anything about it, never seen one, but I love it. So many have had so many ideas in this country and they come up with some good stuff. Probably has a patent.

I think I found the patent for it. The original was July 7, 1846, improvement December 11, 1847, then finally October 1, 1850.
I have the 1850 patent but will need to look at the other two.

I've worked on hundreds of old houses and rehabbed a lot of old locks, but I've never seen that one. It's definitely a very cool piece....
