1864 Indian, large skeleton key, unknown metal toy soldier hat with bust on top?

Hit the same spot we have been hitting. Old 1800s farmland. Got some nice keepers. No clue what the hat is. Super fragile. Might be some writing but can’t make it out just yet. Few buttons and a mystery item or two. The key hole fits the skeleton key perfectly.

the hat it’s a cane topper? I don’t know anything about this I just knew it was something pretty unique and reminded me of a GI Joe hat. I know it’s much older. Haha

I am in your boat. I have never seen one and it is awesome. It looks like there is a name under the portrait? Clean it up and look for marks and names. Hat shape makes me think French.
