1868 mystery coin found by my wife, help ID

Mrs G4E dug this in a field the other nite, and it is dated 1868, looks like a Spanish coin, any clues as to what exactly it is??

and I will add.......don't how it could be modern fake because it is a house site we were hunting in a field 1/4 mile out from road, farmer was 87 and said there has never been a house there in his lifetime

Not gold, so not 10 escudo. Different inscription, too. Certainly similar bust, just not the right denomination.

I'm not so certain it's from 1868, either. But that is one of the possible dates.

It is 1868 as you can clearly see... and also you can see 10 E. Was it silvered? Or gold plated? Theres possibility that this is fake from that time...
