So cool this is our 1st find...a dog tax tag from 1889. It's says Dardanelle. It's the town next to us here in Arkansas. where my fiancé bought a house by the river. We started looking on Internet for ones like it thinking it was worth 50 bucks or something. Found very very few of em, and have had some good offers on it. We r so excited to have found it and that it's worth so much. It was incased in sand which kept it almost perfectly preserved. It's so cool looking in shape of flared cross with number91 on it. Hunting is so fun, we r now addicted and news to us that it's also profitable to do it. How cool.

Well if you offered it to the Pawn Stars, they'd offerya like $10.00. "Cuz you know its gonna take a year to sell it and the collector market for 1889 dog tax tags is down right now".

We already have a 500 dollar bid in eBay n turned one down for the same yesterday...so seems to b selling n to a supreme buyer...we checked him out.

Im confused it was listed for $50 the first bid was for $200 then a second bid for $300 and a third for $500 but all bids were placed by the same person........

"We started looking on Internet for ones like it thinking it was worth 50 bucks or something." Now im reallllllyyyyy confused you thought it was worth $50 and now you turned down an offer for $500? We must have been left out on the how it is determined to be worth more than $500? :dontknow: :icon_scratch:

Well yesterday we didn't actually turn down the bid they pulled out bc we didn't except their bid of 500.00 b told them we were considering it. They gave up Skokie en though they did we realized it was worth the 500.00 50.00 was just an opening bid. To start it. He probably bid like that bc he knew the price we had set 4 reserve was at least 500.00. May b same bidder as yesterday under another name... But we checked him out n he seemed to b a supreme buyer.

The auction doesn't show any bid retractions, so I guess there weren't any? The same private bidder on all bids. That certainly is an odd scenario.
I am confused, too! :dontknow:

I am also confused by your auction, the same bidder keeps raising his bid, seemingly against himself. Am I getting that right? if you get $500 for an arkansas dog tag then I feel I am in the presence of greatness.

Well he didn't really raise bid on himself...our reserve price is 500.00 so that's what he had to go to to even b in the bids. I guess this town has never had tag reserved it's not in the books...n from what I'm hearing especially not this old. We set that reserve price bc we found out through private messages we were getting yesterday that ppl. Would pay it...so why set our reserve price low when wevwere already been offered more. Buyer seems to b ligit.

I'm not sure why everybody is confused.

She started it at $50 with a $500 reserve.

The buyer doesn't know the reserve (unless the seller tells them).

So in order to meet the reserve, the buyer must keep bidding until his bid is at the reserve or higher. Once the buyer finds the reserve, then it shows his bid at the reserve.
