Hi, I'm new to the forum and am hoping you will be able to assist me in identifying exactly what this is.

It is a metal disc, approx. 18mm diameter. Metal possibly bronze (looks like rose gold colour to me with the Eiffel Tower in silver colour).
The front has on it Exposition Universelle 1889 with a picture of the Eiffel Tower.

The rear has a strange type of clip that does not close tightly. on the back of the clip are the letters C.M in a banner.

On the inside of the clip where it joins the disc is BTE SGDG.

Looks like a cuff link to me.

The BVT SGDG portion essentially means "patented without guarantee from the government" (the patent isn't guaranteed by the govt'). BVT is short for Brevete (patent).
