Was walking along the low tide of the South Bronx today looking for old bottles. Spotted one just randomly out in the open on the sandy beach.

It is an 1890's tooled blob from a company owned by David Mayer which operated just down the road on 168th-169th Street and Fulton Ave from where I found it 120+ years ago.

The brewery has long since been demolished as it went out of buisness in 1920. Crazy that this bottle was just sitting on the sand by the rocks with no damage at all, it was the only old bottle I found today.

Yup, that's real nice. Congrats on a nice embossed example.

That is such an epic bottle find, especially in such an urban area!
A very nice piece of NYC history.

Not too many places left to find old things in NYC as most of the original waterfront was built up upon which burried the archeology under modern roads and landfill, but there are still some places untouched left to explore.

Yes, I grew up on the opposite shore in Queens in the 60's and used to explore the shoreline and construction sites as a kid. I had no metal detector back then...purely eyeball finds!

Thats cool that its been flopping around for all those years and you found it like that sweet find........
