Hey y'all

This was by far the best hunt of the year. I went to my cousins house that was built around 1900. We were taking turns digging signals and we got a screaming signal by the sidewalk and about 6 inches down we found this, she spotted it first and I was sure she was going to keep it but she said she had no desire to keep it so she gave it to me. I'm so exited, this is my first 1800s silver and its a great coin. I also found a couple wheats but nothing else old

As you can see, it was hit by my cousin's shovel and bent from who knows what
Some wheats but I ran out of holders so they'll have to wait till my next coin shop visit

Fairly rare find - to dig any of the commemorative silver half dollar series is quite unusual ! I recall seeing another of these dug a few weeks back .

really great to dig ANY silver half dollar, but a comm half! Wow! Congrats man that is one that many of us will never dig up! congrats

Oh yeah, I also found a cufflink

Wow, must be the season for these, another was posted not to long ago and I found one here in Vegas over the summer. Love that there starting to pop up. Congrats on a great find.

Nice commemorative half, Wheatfinder. Congrats!

Great coin man!...Thats a oddball for sure..I dont think ive seen anyone dig one of those!

Congrats breaking into the 1800s :occasion14:

That's an awesome find. Congrats!!

The 1892-93 Columbian Exposition commemorative was supposed to be a fundraising advertisement piece to support the Columbian Exposition in 1893. Of the 5 million made, only about 2 million made it into circulation, and they were way overproduced for what the sales were expected to return in revenue. I've had 2 at one point or another (never dug one though) and they seem to sell on eBay for about $12-$15.

Awesome! You don't see those come up often. Congrats!

outstanding find for sure. many may eventually dig a silver half, but few will ever dig a Columbian Expo half. congrats!

You realize that your attempt to cover up the location of the dig has failed? In the second pic you can see the name, Algiers LA?

Yes you were right, I was too stupid to realize that till you showed me but I WAS smart enough to put the address on the back
