1896 V Nickel

Hard to tell but I was able to get a date of this V Nickel. My very first V Nickel and one of my oldest fine so far. Found this in the same hole with 2 wheat pennies and a 1899 Barber Quarter

Love the patina on the nickel! Do tell: what type site did these old coins come out of ? Eg.: beach or water hunting ? park turf? ghost-townsy ruins type sites? yard of an old home ? etc.....

Old ghost town by the river Laton Ca. Kingston was the old town by the river and now the river is flowing again after 3 years it was some good hunting out there.

Awesome ! Have you read Frank Latta's works ? A buddy of mine from Visalia and I made a point that someday we were going to hunt down and try many of those sites. He got to a few, and I got to a few, but your site of Kingston was one that we didn't pursue.

I hit that area hard found lots of silver coins and lots of gold jewelry. Lots of iron and trash new and old bottle caps. I have about 65$ in clad nickels, quarters and dimes. I started late January with a AT Pro and then with a TDI Pro man I love that machine. Today was a sad day watching the water over take the land. It was fun time to find a new honey hole.
