18k Ladies Watch - Thrift Store Find

I purchased this 18k ladies gold watch at a thrift store for $3. I have found 14k ladies watches in the past but never 18k or this size. The chronograph hand is broken off and floating around inside. I'm not sure if the watch will work properly. I'm wondering if I should keep it or scrap it.
If I keep it, I would try and wear it as a watch pendant and maybe someday take the insides out and wear it as a photo locket. My jeweler pays $65 to scrap the smaller 14k watches. I would get little more on this one. But then again, when will I ever come across an 18k watch?

I agree! Considering what many of the non-Gold Minerva Watches fetch on eBay, an 18kt Gold Minerva Watch in working condition would likely fetch a pretty penny.

First off. It is not a chronograph hand. That is called the Sub Second hand on a non chronograph FYI When the second hand mounts on top of the hour hand it is called a sweep, when it is by itself and below it is a sub second (Because it is sub to the main gear train)
It is very easily repairable takes only a few minutes. As long as the watch is running. Have it fixed and sell it on eBay. For three dollars you have made an absolute score!

Thank you everyone for your input! I really thought you would all say to scrap it for $. I guess I was wrong.
I checked out the eBay link that Huntsman53 added. I got a little education on Minerva watches.
I will hang on to it and look into having it repaired in the future.

Would you actually get more out of it with it fixed up and running. I stopped spending money on repairs years ago because the cost of it had gone up so much, plus the lead time of getting them back has gotten longer and longer. As for me I'd just put away knowing it's worth it's weight in gold at least.

The hardest part of this repair is knowing how to remove the stem and put it back (and having the tools) With the right tools this is less than 4 minute repair and my guys will do it for me for free.
