18th bday hunt Wheaties & war nickel

Trying to teach my buddy how to detect today, he has a pond next to his house surrounded my woods so we detected around the pond, our first hit was a whatsit and then after that we dug some pretty good stuff for his first time out. Got assorted trash/clad/key, and we found 4 wheaties (a 56, 57, 58, 58*) and then got the only silver of the day a 1942 war nickel. Needless to say he can't wait to get his own detector, and we had a great time enjoying the nice weather on our day off school for my 18th bday. Thanks and HH

Happy birthday!!! Glad your showing people about the hobby, and enjoy it so much! Check craigslist.org in the electronics section, some times people sale detectors there, might not be the top of the line, but it beats waving a magnet over the ground..lol HH
