Detector(s) used
Minelab Safari with SEF 8x6; coming soon: FORS Gold+
Hey folks!

Got a chance to get out again today and return to the old picnic grounds along the Sacramento River where I found a '40 Merc about a week ago. This time I took with me two old timers who go to the same church as me and enjoy the hobby as well. I noticed that one of them was swinging his MXT about four inches off the ground, so I gave him a tip to keep it on the ground so he gets maximum depth on his detector.

Right after that the other fella, who was using an old Whites 4900d, stopped to watch me dig a plug right off the main trail. I got a good +37/38 signal on the Safari, and when I put it into poinpoint mode I got a warbly sound, which then got me very excited. After I popped the plug I saw a beautiful sight...a 1902 Barber dime, a little worn. It's been about five months since I last snagged one of these, so I'm very happy to have found this today. It's not my seated dime that I have longed for finding but I will surely take it. Also got a '48 wheatie to boot.

HH!

Ray

Hello Ray,
I was a little confused on your name and then read your posts--You moved. I hadn't been out since early summer so not aware you left the country. By the looks of things there you just picked up where you left off and that is good. Probably a few more seated ladies hanging around there anyway for you. The Barber is one of my favorites and what a thrill to dig one...Congrats.

Congrats, thats a sweet dime!

Good luck,
HH.

Outstanding Barber ,I have only found one and it was a thrill!

great job, hope you get back out there soon as I'm sure there is more for you to get. Thanks for sharing and hh

Nice Dime, I found one and wacked it on the nose with my digger! That won't happen again, still a thrill though!

Congrats!

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

mcmurphi, yes I did move from Washington back at the end of November. I don't miss all the rain, but after reading your post & find of a seated dime it made me wish I had spent time doing some detecting in Tacoma!

Ground Hog, don't feel bad. I nicked my very first Barber quarter earlier this year when I dug it out. At least I did it on the reverse and not the obverse.

Way to go, Ray! :icon_pirat: And nice of you to offer that tip to your hunting buddy.

Nana
