I had a great weekend trip away with a few detecting buddy’s. We found multiple new cellar holes locations but none really produced like we were hoping. Targets were very hard to get. There was no signs of anyone detecting there before but maybe long ago they were hunted. If they were detected before they missed a few good finds at least. I managed a few nice buttons, 3 large coppers, a copper ring, a couple buckles and my best find of the trip a big silver 1904 Newfoundland fifty cent piece. They are not worth very much value wise but as a find it’s a very hard good one for me. I only ever found two other fifty cent pieces in six years or so. Even though the finds were slim the trio was awesome and I can’t wait for the next one. Thanks for looking! [emoji16][emoji106]

It's been two years since I dug a silver, half, grats on some nice digs and thanks for posting.

you know I like the big ole silvers....
Nice to have time to get out now, I'm hoping to see something like that again soon myself and I'm sure you would too lol
keep at it you're doing great

The 50 cent is cool, you was likely the first person to hold it in 100 years. Awesome [emoji106]

That starburst button is cool too! Lots of good finds!

You have some older buttons there and the 50 cent piece is nice!

Great looking half! Congrats!

Great finds !!
That coin is a good example of the value spread based on demand. A US 50 cent piece from the same period (not the same date) but with nearly the same mintage and condition is worth about 10X this coin's value.
Don....

Nice hunt & saves, congrats & HH

I bet it was a good time hunting with your friends, I'm glad you found some silver and a beauty! Congrats!!!

Nice hunt...love the big silver piece! :icon_thumright:

Those Newfoundland silver coins are really attractive, I’ve always liked them. Yours is a great example!

Likin' the big 'Newfoundland' half. Congrats! I have found several myself(no half), minted Newfoundland when I was there. Just cool, since it was not part of Canada at that point. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting facts:

Newfoundland was organised as a colony in 1825, was self-governing from 1855–1934, and held dominion status from 1907–1949 (see Dominion of Newfoundland). In June 22 and July 3, 1948, the population of the colony voted 52.3% to 47.7% in favour of joining Canada as a province.

Nice finds.Congratulations

That’s a great looking coin.

Congrats on the 50 Cent piece and the rest of your finds. That is a nice looking coin.
