1905 Indian and a possible Military Button??

[Carolina Relic Hunter]

Spent the day in a pasture of cows where an old house once stood and civil war activity once occurred. Our group pulled a few three ringers and three military buttons yesterday and I pulled this unique 12 star gold guilted Scoville Waterbury button. Let me know your thoughts or info if this would be considered military or civilian. Thanks in advance.

Pretty button. Congrats.

I would call that a civilian button, not saying it wasn’t used by military, but not purpose made for military.

Another point, and I speak from personal experience of over-cleaning items (ruined many of my first finds), sometimes less is more.

I'm pretty sure that is a civilian button, there are no military indicators on it. Nice finds !
