About all I can add is the "DT" probaly stands for "Dog Tax" as this was more the case back then. Towns in Michigan in accordance to the provisions of Act No. 48 of the Public Acts of 1901, required assessing officers of the township to collect a tax on dogs and make a list of the owners of the dogs in each town.

Nice old dog tag.
