1913 Dog Tax Menlo,Ia

A old heart shaped tag I scraped with the knife.Measures 1" by 1". Cant make out a word at the top left.Looks to say SCOTTCK or CH then you can't see the rest. Back is blank. Any info on this? From Menlo,IA

Probably the word(s) you are trying to make out are the "maker's mark" - the name of the company that made the tag. What you can see doesn't ring a bell with me...

This town is not listed in "U.S. DOG LICENSE TAGS" book by Bill Bone.

The oldest dog tag I found was 1923, I went to the county clerks office but their records only went back 7 years, I wanted to see who owned the dog & what kind it was, you might try yours just to see if they might have a record yet! Neat find.
