Here is a Quarter found by my Father in law. Back when he worked construction they had been part of a destruction team using heavy equipment demolishing a house. Whoever was running the backhoe ripped its claw through a wall and busted open some glass jars hidden.

My Father in law said the two other guys got most of the loot, but he managed to get a jar that its contents were broken.

Anyhow this Standing Lib. Quarter stood out to me like none other when I saw it. Not sure if it's the rare one. To hard to tell even with magnifier.

Looks like a 1917 to me. I can clearly see the tail of the 7 in your picture.

Check out this link, it will tell you everything you need to know to identify the famous 1916 vs the 1917 SLQ. I have found a few coins in the dealer bin for 2.00 that I thought would be a 1916. Anacs will grade it the 1916 if it meets the die variety of the 1916. Your coin if it was a 1916 would grade AG-3 believe it or not.

After checking this article, it appears to me that yours is a 17. Still nice to have, though.

Yeah I would say it's the 1917. Aside from the date the links info preety much settles it. A clear line above
her head. etc..

Appreciate the help.

Incidentally my father in laws jar contained 15 walk lib halves, two franklins,5 SLQ's,6 buffalo nickels, and
30 some Merc dimes. Not a bad haul for him.

I'm gonna get permission to hunt the property where they tore down the house this spring. Never know what might be found !

Super Link, now I wonder what mine is???
