Hello everyone. I found this with a 1905 V nickel and didn't realize there was anything special about this one. I just thought it was another Buffalo Nickel until I opened the Redbook and realized that this year nickel had a variety that was special. In the year the 8 over 7 variety is a rare one. I can't tell if this one is a plain 1918 D or a 1918 8 over 7 variety. I will let you guys be the judge. I took some pictures for you all. The date is still readable as well as the mintmark. I am excited about this find. It would be great if it were an 8 over 7, but a plain 18 d will do. I hope everyone has had some great finds this weekend.

Ever notice how nickels and old silver/nickel spoons come out of the ground red?

I know. Just about every old nickel I dig has that red rust on it. I wish there was a solution you could put it in to make it shine again. Just take all the red off without damaging coin. I might have to work on this. There has got to be a way.
