I just discovered this 1925 penny with a sort of wrinkle on the left side between Lincoln’s head and the edge.Would this be of interest to collectors or is it just a flaw? Thanks! B52448A7-E196-4695-A423-0973090F3507.webp

Where did you find it

It think it was at the bottom of my purse today. I may have received it as change recently. We’re getting ready to move so I’ve been sorting through things to pack.

Looks like a battle scar from a lawnmower blade to me. :laughing7:

Dave,
Yes, it does look a bit like that in the photo, but it is actually a fairly thick, raised ridge of metal. Hmmmm...

I might suggest taking to a coin dealer in your area... you never know, it just might be a manufacturing flaw. :icon_scratch:

Lamination?

I agree with flinthunter. Most likely what is known as a 'lamination error', which occurs when the metal that the planchet is made of isn't mixed well. At some point a crack occurs and a thin layer flakes off. It doesn't make the coin valuable , but it's a keeper.
