Recently I discovered a retired boss from work had purchased a big lot in town that used to be part of an apple orchard. Finally, a month after gaining permission from him i finally stopped by for 45 minutes to just get a feel for what’s been lost there . This was literally the first signal out of the truck . Rang in a 28 on my equinox. Since the ground was do dry and figuring it was a dime i dug a small plug and ended up noticing this was up and down in the die of the hole . That’s how the big dings came about . They had a local contest for selling these and who ever won was to be the “Air mail Queen”
Thats May 12 1926 on the back .

Some history:

On May 12, 1926, St. Joseph, Missouri, participated in the inaugural "Air Mail Day" for a new Contract Air Mail (CAM) route. The event marked the first time airmail service was flown from the city, connecting it to a route that stretched from Chicago to Dallas.
Don in SoCal
PS: That's a Curtis Carrier Pigeon Airplane on the reverse.
