Maybe it is not the acid rain that is ruining the coins. I think the high alcohol content of the spit might be the problem. Just kidding keep hunting and they will come.

I know what you mean about the soil and acid content. I find 1990's pennies that look like mortal hell. Then I find a 1902 Indian 3" deep and it's in good shape. We got to start find'n the silver (it maintains much better). Detect Drunk?? or while drinking umm?? -course you didn't say that; just when posting.

jim, thats why i wear liberty bibs when I am hunting, the pockets are big and there are 2 in the front on your chest, i can carry ATLEAST 5 beers and digger!!....of course it is kind of heavy and bulky so once you get started you really have to slam a few quick to get rid of the access luggage
