Not silver but still a better date right? New to this, thought that it was one they didn't make too many of, but I do not have a redboook

Too bad it's not silver.
Great answer buddy. Way to help the hobby....

Nick -nice save on the ‘42-D. It’s definitely a harder date to find in circulation but doesn’t quite reach semi-key status. There is a D over horizontal D variety you might want to check for.

I find a lot of coins also because close out our registers and count the change. I actually have all years of the silver wartime nickels just counting change, but I didn't have the D from that year. I used to buy coins as a kid and collect, but now I just like to metal detect and find them in my change. Happy hunting all. Btw I looked it up on cointracker, the D in avg shape is worth more than the P? Or is cointracker not good info

Nick - I don’t believe there’s a market for a circulated ‘42-D like that. It’s hard to find a Jefferson worth anything.

And your point is what. If the OP knows the coin is a better find, I'm sure he knows about silver. Hell, it's only one forum above the CRH forum!
