1944 Mercury Dime

the obverse is very nice and the reverse has the bands and all the lines on the fascias very visible. To send this off to get graded, will pcgs tell me it's damaged? Or will it be considered as a regular coin? Seriously, this is a nice looking coin.

They'll probably tell you it was dug/cleaned. . . microscopic hairline scratches from dirt. . . no matter HOW careful you are in recovering a coin from the ground, there will always be SOME hairline scratches on the coin. Plus, in the ground, it will have lost it's original luster/patina in the acidic soil conditions.

In Yeoman's 2008 Red Book, a 1944 in MS-65 is only $25. . . it will cost almost as much to have it graded. . . not worth it.
