I was off to hit a little yard yesterday after work. I didn't have much time. Me and my hunting partner AKA: Shy, had strict orders from the commanderette to be back in a couple hours. We cried and cried (well the dog did anyway, I know better.) but to no avail. So we get to the spot and had to go over it quickly. Shy headed for the high grass, woodsy area while I stayed in the less tickless part of the yard and started hunting. I didn't find anything deeper than 4", quick cherry pick. Hit the 1956 silver dime right away. Then a couple Wheaties and a 1964 zincoln. Got a different hit and dug up the crusty fork. Another different hit and dug the little tootsie deuce coup. Also found some kind of round lead object, looks like part of furniture and a little piece of a toy chicken. It looks like cast iron and is missing the legs and head. Might even have been a pin.
Time was near and I called to my hunting partner that it was time to go. She comes strolling up with a live Mole hanging from her mouth. I couldn't get a picture in time as she dropped it for me to inspect. (I always check her finds.) I said we got to go and she let is scurry back into the high grass. ( that mole doesn't know how lucky it was, she usually makes short work of them.) I hunt the woods and fields and some older homesteads and she goes with me on my hunts. After about an hour of chasing away all the would be threats like squirrels and chipmunks she usually settles under a shade tree close by. She hasn't learned to find silver or gold yet, but she knows a nice hit when she hears one and usually inspects the plug even before I do. Made it home in time, evreryone happy, it was good hunting day had by all.
