1963 Canadian Quarter.....silver?

[Ken from Atlanta]

I had an hour or so of free time yesterday and just for kicks went to the park down the street. Found a bunch of clad ($3.46) for the coffee fund jar, and a 1963 Canadian quarter. It looks like silver, and I was wondering if I had just found my first silver this year or not. Anyone know?

[goldgrubber]

Yep, they were silver up to 1968. Congrats!!

YAY! Thanks goldgrubber, I'm definitely going back to that spot.

Congrats on your first silver! :-)

I wonder how many people have silver canadians sitting around and dont know it? Also if you find any can nickels from 55-81 they are mostly nickel and the melt value is about 12 cents:-)

Silver, yes, but 80%. Still, not a bad find!
