1965 Mint Set with Kennedy Half error

I wonder how the quality control at the mint let this slip through? Seems too major of an error to pass under the nose of mint inspection employees. Nice find BTW. Get an estimate on the value and send it off to NGC to get certified as a set in which all the coins are in the same BIG slab.

gonna have to check my 65 sets!

I know it is said that there wasn't any silver in 1965 but i cannot see any copper layer in the half...it doesn't have the dull color as the dime and quarter. It is brighter, looks more of silver then beeing clad coin. Could they have made the mistake of that also.

Ummm ya '65 halves are 40% silver(same as '66-70)- many of them you cant see the copper layer

just keep stacking, just keep stacking, stacking stacking stacking

thanks everyone...appreciate all the info you have shared

It does appears to be a rotated die strike and you should send this coin to one of the top grading services if you're interested in having this error verified. Also, this will give it a better value. Some of these can fetch several hundred dollars so it would be worth it if you care about such things.
