Found this 1965 Quarter on the top of the mountain between Wind Gap and rt.191 ....it turns red when its wet...sounds like a silver quarter in my pocket ,...only weighs 5.2g instead of 5.7g
And it look like its a mis print or mis print...whole right edge is gone and looks warped..ive done my research ...but cant figute out why 5.2g

Clad quarters look like that when they have been in the ground for a while, perfectly normal. it does look like it has been struck either slightly off center or from slightly misaligned dies. if the reverse is normal it is from misaligned dies, if off center then it is struck off center.

My favorite find so far....just strang that it weighs less...sounds like silver though....and I didnt even have a metal detector....i went to rinse it off in nearby spring and it turned chalky red.
I will keep forever....Appalachian Magic!

I suspect the weight loss is from metal loss due to an acidic environment.
